Rising country artist Timothy Wayne shared the advice he received from his uncle, an icon in the genre.

Wayne spoke about his uncle, Tim McGraw, on the red carpet at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Festival presented by Capital One on Saturday night (September 20). Wayne, 21, is a rising country artist and student at Louisiana State University. So far, he’s released “Good Ole Boys Girl,” “God Made A Country Boy,” a cover of “Louisiana Saturday Night” and more. He also joined McGraw for stops on the “Humble and Kind” artist’s headlining “Standing Room Only Tour” last year.

“I’ve been very lucky. I’ve had a lot of father figures in my life, him being one of them, so I get a lot of life advice from him and musical advice,” Wayne said on the iHeartRadio Music Festival red carpet, hours before joining McGraw on stage. “I take a lot of stage presence advice from him to make sure the crowd feels involved in the show, feels involved in the music. That way, that when they’re there [at the show], they’re there. They’re not worried about anything outside. So, that’s one of the biggest pieces of advice [from McGraw].”

The star-studded, genre-spanning event returned on Friday night (September 19) and Saturday night to T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The lineup of the 2025 show included McGraw, plus Jelly RollBigXthaPlugBryan AdamsEd SheeranDiploGloRillaJohn FogertyJusticeLL COOL JMariah CareyMaroon 5Sammy HagarTate McRaeThe Offspring, and Bailey Zimmerman.
