Elle King posted a few family photos on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon (April 16), and opened up about Baby No. 2’s early arrival in her heartfelt caption.
King and her partner, Dan Tooker, welcomed their second child, another son, earlier this year. The mother of two announced son Royal Tooker’s arrival on February 28, and said “our family just got a little bit brighter.” Royal joins big brother Lucky Levi Tooker, 3.
“Royal came early. He was just this teeny little thing,” King shared on Wednesday. “Funny how something and someone so small can ignite so much love from so many. I don’t know how, but it happens fast. Some days are hard, like really really hard. Some days float by like a blink. I hoped that postpartum depression was a one time thing, but it’s such a roller coaster. Amazing what we go through to create life. My partner and love [Dan Tooker] has carried us through. Lucky is the kindest and loveliest big brother, but still my baby. I feel really grateful to everyone who came to bring meals and hugs. Sometimes I get anxiety about instagram, like it’s this big reminder that life out there is moving on without me. But time waits for no one, and even that’s a gift. Everything happens when it’s supposed to, because it’s bigger than us. Shoutout to new parents. Shoutout to pregnant people. Shoutout to the ones trying to conceive. To the moms out there trudging through the tunnel, there is a light. Love to everybody. Especially Dan, the love of my life.”
King announced the pregnancy and gender reveal in September, shortly after confirming she and Tooker had reconciled after briefly parting ways. She said in an interview with PEOPLE at the time that she credited son Lucky with bringing them back together. “We have everything that both of us have ever wanted right here. Let's put our weapons down. Come on. This is it. This is life. It doesn't get better than this. This is worth trying. This is worth wiping a slate clean. This is worth all the effort in the world. My family, this is what deserves all the energy and effort. …It's happy, it's beautiful. I'm very happy, I'm very content, which is nice, and I don't know if I've ever really felt that, so it's a blessing.”
