Navy Sailor and Williamsport Native Refuses to Let COVID Stop The Song

Petty Officer Holden Moyer, a Navy musician and native of Williamsport, Penn., will be featured live on Facebook, Friday, April 10 at 1:15 p.m. Eastern Time as part of the Navy’s “Ship2Shore” virtual outreach program.

Moyer is currently serving at Navy Band Southeast located in Jacksonville, Fla.

“Music has always been a driving force in my life,” said Moyer. “Ever since I started school, music classes were always the best part of my day because I got to develop my creativity. I was going to join the Navy out of high school, but my mom talked me into going to college for music, and I’m glad that I did because I developed my musical skills tenfold from high school. After college, I walked into my recruiting station and said, ‘I heard the Navy has a band - I can sing!’ After a successful audition I went to boot camp and the rest is history.”

Viewers can watch the interview live at facebook.com/NavyOutreach.

The live stream is a part of the “Ship2Shore” initiative, created by the Navy Office of Community Outreach (NAVCO) to help show an inside look at the Navy to the public while they remain safe at home during the nation’s response to COVID-19.
