Chris Janson Doesn't Follow A Set-List Instead "Feels It Out" Every Night

Chris Janson joined the Bobby Bones Show in studio to talk about his new music and how the tour life has been going. The crowds have been reacting so well to his new music; it's really ignited a new energy in him to finish this next album. Now that Janson has had 3 major hits he calls his previous slump the "3 hit hump". He was told once he reached 3 major hits he'd feel a little unmotivated to make new music. Janson said he definitely hit that slump but now he's bounced back and is excited for his new album to drop in the fall.

Since Janson has been working on new music he has been incorporating his new songs into his rotation on stage. Janson actually doesn't follow a set-list he said he usually just goes with the flow and adjusts the song order on the fly! For the most part he'll open with "Redneck Life," but if he thinks the crowd isn't feeling it he'll change things up. Typically his first big hit will be "Fix A Drink" followed by "Good Vibes;" he'll end with "Buy Me A Boat."

However, sometimes he'll end with "Truck Yeah" which he finds funny because he never thought this song would be as big as it is. His wife, Kelly, was the one who told him it would be a big hit and turns out it is his fattest rising career single to date. Janson wrote the song with LOCASH and it's performed by Tim McGraw. He said this is the song that sort of got him on the map when he found out Tim McGraw wanted it. However, he credits "Buy Me A Boat" for completely changing his life.

Janson even gave Bobby Bones his "Buy Me A Boat" 2 million plaque to thank him for playing a part in changing his life. Janson emailed Bones the song for feedback and Bones loved it so he played it on the show. The song went to #1 on the charts instantly with over 100,000 downloads in about 5 minutes. Janson said he "honestly can't thank Bobby enough" for the impact he had on the song and his career.
