Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town surprised the audiences at each other’s performances on Thursday evening (May 28) in Nashville, Tennessee.

Little Big Town — made up of Karen FairchildKimberly SchlapmanPhillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook — performed a surprise pop-up set at The Twelve Thirty Club hours after announcing their 12th studio album. The Grammy-winning group will release It’s A Dying Art on August 28.

“We came here to tell you a little secret. It’s not a secret, but we’ve been working on new music, and the record’s called It’s A Dying Art because love is a dying art and we want to keep that thing going,” Fairchild shared with the crowd. “When you hear the song ‘It’s A Dying Art,’ it’s all about what we connect together and do together, and it’s about you guys. We make this music for you guys. We make it for ourselves, but this is what we live for right here, is the connection with you all.

“We thought that if we were going to do this and just pop up on a Thursday night,” she continued, “we should play a new song and we should bring our friend Miranda Lambert up. …It’s just a phone call away sometimes.”

Fairchild hailed Lambert “the queen of country music,” as she joined Little Big Town on stage. Together, they performed “Over And Over,” which Little Big Town released on Thursday as the group announced It's A Dying Art.

Lambert surprised fans at Little Big Town’s pop-up show before headlining the first night of the Music City Rodeo at Bridgestone Arena (followed by Charley Crockett and Jon Pardi taking the stage on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively). Lambert performed some of her biggest, career-spanning hits at the second annual rodeo, including “Kerosene,” “Gunpowder & Lead,” her new song “Crisco,” and more. Little Big Town surprised the rodeo audience during Lambert’s set, and performed “Girl Crush” and “Boondocks” together. Watch the clips below.
