Reba McEntire’s daughter-in-law, Marissa Blackstock, opened up about enduring “more loss this year than I ever imagined I could,” in an emotional post on Instagram.

Marissa, who married McEntire’s son, Shelby Blackstock, in 2022, recounted losing her brother-in-law (Brandon Blackstock) and her dad, “and now our little boy. Grief has a way of reshaping your world, and I’ve learned that to survive it, you have to search for even the faintest glimmer of meaning— the small silver thread that helps your heart keep going.

“Our little boy was that for me. He arrived the day after my dad passed, two pink lines on Thanksgiving morning… something I had never seen before in three long years of trying,” Marissa wrote on Instagram. “And though he began to slip away in the days that followed, and today confirmed what we already knew… he still gave us something precious. He showed me that my body can do this. That hope isn’t gone.

“I know— it’s so early. But I wanted to acknowledge this for the people who have been excited for us. The ones who’ve followed our journey, our family, our heartbreaks and our hopes. Life happens quietly sometimes, and it’s such a shame we don’t talk about it more. How can we support one another if we don’t know?” Marissa said. “Biologically, time may not be on our side, but I’m not ready to set this dream down. Not now, not ever. And even in the weight of this season, I’m grateful for the light he brought with him; however brief, however delicate. If you’re walking through your own losses, I hope you find your small threads of light too. 🤍”
