Dan and Reid Isbell discussed the state of country music with “future hall of fame songwriters” on a recent episode of their podcast, God’s Country.
The Isbell brothers teamed up with Wynn Varble and Shane Minor to talk about the music industry, “what their journey of a songwriter has looked like and provide advice for folks aspiring to make the move to Nashville,” and more throughout the episode, which ends with a song written by award-winning artist Chris Stapleton.
“This week Reid and Dan host themselves out in God's Country for an episode of giving insight to the songs and the deer stand. The brothers bring in future hall of fame songwriters to answer fan questions about the music industry and songwriting. Wynn Varble and Shane Minor discuss the state of country music, what their journey of a songwriter has looked like and provide advice for folks aspiring to make the move to Nashville. The brothers also dial in a firearm expert to answer the question of what to buy youth who are looking to start deer hunting and why he suggests each of the options. The episode ends in Reid's gravorite that was originally penned by Chris Stapleton.”
Dan and Reid — who have written music for Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Scotty McCreery, Jon Pardi, Lainey Wilson and others — started their weekly podcast in early January 2024. Some of the first guests to appear on the show include HARDY, Dustin Lynch, Colbie Caillat and others.
“One of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,” Dan and Reid Isbell said in a statement when God’s Country launched. They hope to “bring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre — a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We can’t wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.”
