Lainey Wilson returned to Yellowstone for the Western dramaâs highly-anticipated season 5B finale that aired on Sunday evening (December 15).
The reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year, who plays Abby, took the stage with her real-life Whirlwind anthem, âHang Tight Honey,â in a clip shared by the showâs Instagram account hailing the Yellowstone moment âour Super Bowl.â The clip offers a glimpse of Wilson performing âHang Tight Honeyâ on stage in Texas, as Ryan, played by Ian Bohen, makes his way through the packed crowd. Wilson released that single on her latest studio record, along with â4x4xU,â âWhirlwind,â âCountryâs Cool Again,â âGood Horsesâ with Miranda Lambert and more. Watch the clip here (warning: spoilers below).
Bohenâs character, who previously relocated to Texas, purchased the last standing-room ticket available to attend Wilsonâs characterâs show, which was filmed at legendary honky tonk Billy Bobâs Texas in Fort Worth. Ryan told Abby he âmade a mistake,â and âyou are my Super Bowl.â He ultimately accepted Abbyâs offer to join her life on the tour bus. Wilson commented on Instagram that she was âgrateful to be a part of this,â and Bohen said he âcouldnât imagine a better ending.â Other Yellowstone stars, including Jen Landon and Hassie Harrison â playing Teeter and Laramie, respectively â also commented on the heartwarming ending for Abby and Ryan.
Wilson recently spoke about her experience on Yellowstone in an interview with Vanity Fair, including how she met show creator Taylor Sheridan, who wrote the role specifically for her. Wilson, who previously noted that sheâd only received her own script and had âno clueâ what would happen in the rest of the season, said in the interview that âit was such a blessing because it really put a face to a name. Especially during a time when people might have known the song on the radio, but they just didnât know who sang it or what they looked like. Thatâs what Yellowstone did for me.â
Yellowstone premiered in 2018, telling the story of âa ranching family in Montana (facing) off against others encroaching on their land.â Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille and Kevin Costner, who confirmed his departure from the show earlier this year, starred in the epic series.
